Who we are
Morleys is the trading name of St Aubyns (Hove) Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (number 11997188). Our registered office is The Courtyard, Shoreham Road, Upper Beeding, Steyning, BN44 3TN. The restaurant is at 42 High Street, Hurstpierpoint, BN6 9RG.
We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us its controller under UK data protection law. If you have a question about it, email info@morleys-bistro.com or ring 01273 835000.
What we collect and why
When you book a table
Table bookings are made through our booking system, resOS. We collect your name, phone number and email address, the date, time and size of your booking, and anything you choose to tell us, such as an occasion or an accessibility need. We use this to hold your table, contact you about the booking and get ready for your visit. We need it to provide the booking you have asked for.
If you tell us about an allergy or a dietary need, that can say something about your health. We use it only to prepare your food safely, and only because you have chosen to give it to us. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
When you get in touch
If you ring, email or message us, we use what you send to reply and to deal with your request. We do this because answering the people who contact us is part of running the restaurant.
When you buy a gift voucher
Gift vouchers are sold for us by Giftpro, which takes your payment and sends the voucher. We use the voucher details to honour it when it is spent. Giftpro’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) explains how it handles your details.
When you book a room
The rooms above Morleys are managed and booked through Huluki Sussex Stays, which is responsible for the details you give it when you book a room. Its own privacy policy applies.
News and offers
We only send news and offers to people who have agreed to receive them. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can simply tell us.
When you visit this website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps short-term technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and working. We count visits and measure how quickly pages load in a way that does not use cookies or identify you. The cookies page has more detail.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the companies that help us run Morleys, and only as far as they need it: our booking system (resOS), our voucher seller (Giftpro), our website host (Vercel), our email and phone providers, and our accountants and professional advisers. We will also share it if the law requires us to.
Some of these companies store information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected in a way UK data protection law allows, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK’s approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above. Booking details are normally deleted within two years of your visit. Financial records, such as voucher sales, are kept for six years because the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it, or stop or limit how we use it
- give it to you in a form you can pass to someone else
Where we rely on your consent, such as for allergy details or news and offers, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of these, email info@morleys-bistro.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab) or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
